Yes -you certainly will share an “almost heaven” experience as you tour the gloriously vibrant West Virginia fall foliage! From color-filled train rides to exciting boat rides, your days in the “Mountain State” will be filled with adventure, history and exciting experiences. You are truly lucky to be staying in a fantastic Resort hotel and visiting one of my very favorite Resorts in the whole country!!
Please take advantage of the time you spend at the Greenbrier – it is truly a luxury retreat and has been a favorite destination of royalty, celebrities and business leaders – and ME! Located amid the most breathtakingly beautiful landscape of West Virginia, this National Historic Landmark has been serving guests since 1778. It is classic and timeless, filled with history and folklore. Think of Enrico Caruso, the renown operatic tenor, standing in one the huge fireplaces and singing to the delight of an unsuspecting crowd. Imagine this beautiful old-lady converted to an Army Hospital during the Second World War! If only the walls could talk. She was established as one of the finest golf destinations in the late ‘40’s and still is.They offer19 diverse restaurants and lounges for your dining pleasure and the cuisine is always world-class – of course the gorgeous setting only adds to the ambiance.
And…you will absolutely enjoy the dining opportunities at the Glade Springs Resort as well. The Glade Grill and Bar is elegant yet cozy and overlooks the beautiful Cobb Course. If you are looking to spend relaxing time with fellow travelers, Bunkers Sports Bar may be the place to be after a day of sightseeing. The combination of great food, and a casual atmosphere is just right. You might also want to spend some time in the Small Talk Café, which is the perfect place to enjoy a quick lunch or cup of coffee. The Rotunda offers a full breakfast buffet for your enjoyment as well.
Enjoy it all surrounded by glorious landscapes and vibrant color. West Virginia in the fall is truly “Almost Heaven” and on this Interlude, you have the opportunity to experience some of the best this state has to offer. Please read the complete itinerary and plan to enjoy the scenic splendor – you’ll be so glad you did.
